The Artists of the Peace Competition is a painting competition that provides an opportunity for emerging Peace Country artists to have their work exhibited and compete against other amateur artists. During the competition, individuals come in and vote for their favourite piece and can purchase the artwork.
The competition is open to various styles of paintings (landscape, portrait, still life, abstract etc.) and/or painting with some mixed media as it has to be reproduced two-dimensionally.
The gallery is always excited to meet new artists and see returning artists grow year over year, some in leaps and bounds.
The gallery offers a framing package to each of the top 3 winners, nine10 prints a series of limited edition prints that are donated for charity fundraisers by Pattison Media. The winning artist will be represented by the gallery for a minimum of 1 year. The artworld is highly competitive with hundreds of artists vying for gallery space. Winning as well really helps an artist out on their Curriculum Vitae (CV) as they apply for exhibitions and group shows.
The Artists of the Peace Art Competition dates back over 20 years and many of the region's top artists have competed in or won this art competition. The contest has from the start been driven by Big Country 93.1 and 98.9 Rewind Radio now expanded to Pattison Media. 9 years ago Grant Berg Gallery rejuvenated the promotion after a hiatus of a few years.
