CITY OF GRANDE PRAIRIE - The Neighbourhood Outdoor Rink Program has opened applications for residents to apply to build and maintain small skating rinks in their neighbourhoods.
The program is a free opportunity providing approved applicants with the supplies to install and maintain small skating rinks in parks located near their homes for the winter.
Applicants must have a group of five committed volunteers to build and maintain the rinks and specify a location for installation. The City provides training on rink installation and maintenance and completes monthly hazard assessments on each build.
The deadline to submit an application is December 15. Interested residents are encouraged to apply as soon as possible as it is recommended that all rinks be fully constructed before the ground freezes and there is significant snow on the ground.
